Ray Charles-Sinner's Prayer
The last song that Ray Charles was set to release was a duet with B.B. King. A blues track combined the guitar and the piano in a reminiscent way. The song, "Sinner's Prayer" was ultimately a repent to God for the sins they have committed in their lives. Deeply emotional and real, the song was set to be released on Charles' final album, "Genius Love Company". However before the two got to perform it again, Charles passed away from complications of acute liver disease. His record company anticipated that that album would have bought him straight to Number One.
 
Chuck Berry-Rock It

The last album ever released by Chuck Berry, "Rock It," was released in 1979 as a controversial addition to the music world. Throughout Berry's jail times in his career. While he released this album, he didn't produce anything else within a long time period. He did however celebrate his 60th birthday (7 years after release of Rock It) with 2 performances in New York & St Louis. While Berry has continued to have trouble with the low, he was inducted within the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame in 1986. The inventor of rock n' roll has failed to release any other "rockin'" material in nearly 28 years.

 
Elvis Presley-All Shook Up

Elvis's last song "All Shook Up" was written by both Presley and songwriter Paul Terry King. The two performed the song together in private. The song was never published or released before Elvis's drug overdose death in 1977. Presley's ability to woo a crowd with hip gyrations and blue black hair was made him a rock icon for a lifetime. "All Shook Up" depicted his life as it was before his death. His rockabilly infused, yet R&B sound is classic and remains some of the best music ever produced, written and performed.

 
George Harrison-Small World, Big Band

The legendary Beatles died of throat cancer in 2001. However, the last song he ever recorded, Horse to the water, was released on a Jools Holland album entitled "Small World, Big Band." Soon after, Harrison's most popular solo track 'My Sweet Lord," was released and went to number 1 again (nearly 30 years later). Ultimately, the musician excelled both in a band and as a solo artist, a true musician, he wrote and performed right until his death. A legend was definitely lost with George.

Louis Armstrong-What a wonderful world

The revolutionary singer created a great uproar in the creation of various genres of music in his time. The last song he ever wrote, in which created chart records, was entitled "What a wonderful world." This song made Louis the oldest person to ever have a number one hit on the chart (he was 67). The song depicts the wonders and glories of everyday life, his strong outlook came from a childhood of poverty, yet he perseveres with his passion in music. His sudden death in 1971 came by surprise; the world lost one of the best performers to walk its roads.

 
Kurt Cobain-You know you're right

After his death, the song "You Know You're Right" was released to the world. The track topped the Top 10 charts almost immediately all over the world. Many claim the PR stint of releasing both this song (the first in a decade) as well as his notebooks and diaries was a way to make money off of the legendary Seattle rocker's suicidal death. The song highlights the transitional period both Cobain and his band were working on committing to. Who knows what direction Nirvana would have taken if Cobain would have lived past the age of 27.

 
Janis Joplin-Mercedes Benz

The last song that this musical genius ever recorded was entitled, "Mercedes Benz." The acappella song was recorded early October 1970.

Because Joplin died 3 days later, she was unable to record it with instruments, however the song was co-written with poet Michael McClure. Ultimately, the song showcased social issues within society where people associate happiness with material items. The song has since been used for Mercedes commercials in the '90s. While she never owned a Mercedes, Joplin was known for her hippie painted Porsche. Her last live performance was 2 months before her death in Cambridge, Mass. at Harvard Stadium.

Anyone who is an avid follower of music would definitely be familiar with the name Mozart. Even those who are not music lovers have heard of this world famous composer. His name is taken with the likes of Beethoven- all stalwarts of the world of music; pillars which support the concept.

It is true that genius is not appreciated in its lifetime. Such was the case with Mozart too, who led a very turbulent life because he was way ahead of his time. Even so, his musical talent was tapped early on by his father and he was composing symphonies and orchestras by the time he was thirteen. Though his life was tragically short, he composed and created such brilliant works of art that he is alive even today through them.

Beethoven-Tenth Symphony

Many claim that Beethoven's last piece was the Tenth Symphony. This musical arrangement included strings quintets, C# minor piano solos and other instrumental combined to create the perfect "symphony." Many have argued that his last works involved Waltzes or Marches, others say his last pieces were written for others. While the mystery may never be solved, the lasting music that has been released since his death are treasures for the musical community worldwide. Beethoven is and always will be a legend in all musicians', no matter the genre, eyes.

 
Chopin

On Chopin's deathbed he asked his family to destroy any works that he hasn't released. However, his family asked a close friend of Chopin's, Julian Fontana, to pick only the best of the unreleased materials. Nearly 23 piano pieces were grouped together in opus numbers and published in 1855. However, it is estimated that nearly 244 were in the running for the selections. This illustrates the extreme talent Chopin had for music as well as creating new works in record time. His collection is much larger than many modern day musician's entire career accomplishments.

 
Freddy Mercury-Mother Love

Mother Love

was Freddie Mercury's last song which he co-wrote and recorded with Brian May. Made in Heaven was Queen's last studio album, which was released in November 1995. After Freddie Mercury's death in 1991, the remaining members John Deacon, Roger Taylor, and Brian May worked with Mercury's pre-recorded vocals to create the final Queen album. The album debuted at #1 in the UK, and would go four times platinum there, making it Queen's best selling studio album ever in the UK. The album peaked at #58 in the US, going gold.

Jerry Garcia-Black Muddy River

Having done work with several bands and even solo projects, Garcia's most noted musical accomplishments occurred with the band The Grateful Dead. One of his greatest accomplishment, was being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame which occurred in 1994.

Garcia's last song was Black Muddy River, in which the lyrics:

....seem to tell a story of Garcia's life. He died shortly after of a heart attack induced by sleep apnea. However after his death in 1995, Garcia's legacy has lived on. From ice cream flavors to notable media fame and various attractions being named of the musical talent, Garcia even is honored the first Sunday of every August in a way to keep his memory alive.
